OUR STORY
Clark Greene "Pops" opened the Oswego Sub Shop in 1969. At that time, the sandwich shop had 10 sub recipes, and some family recipes, such as the home-cooked roast beef sandwich. Bill Sr started working at the shop in 1967 after returing from the Vietnam War. Bill Greene Sr took the reigns just a few short years later after buying out his father and uncle, growing the business for over 35 years.
His son, Bill Jr, carries on the tradition of bringing Oswego the same family recipes along with new favorites after buying out his father in 2002. In 2008, Bill Jr. grew the shop with a bakery and dining room expansion. With the expansion of the building came an expansion of the menu including fresh baked rolls and desserts every day. You'll still see Mr. Greene behind the counter serving up your favorite sandwich with a smile and a joke.
Both men have committed themselves to keeping the Oswego Sub Shop consistent, and live by the rule that “If you bought a sub in 1969, you can get the exact same sub today.” Not only is the recipe the same, but it is made with fresh ingredients. All meats are sliced daily, and vegetables chopped fresh. In order to meet demand and keep up with the workload that fresh-prepared ingredients requires, the shop has a staff of over 40 people.
